The BCD, Buoyancy Control Device, allows divers to control their buoyancy by inflating or deflating a bladder to achieve positive, neutral or negative buoyancy. BCDs come is a vast range of styles that are designed for different types of diving ranging standard recreational BCDs to technical wing and harness systems. We have a large selection of BCDs for men and also BCDs specifically cut and shaped to provide a more comfortable and supportive fit for women. You will find everything from heavy duty BCDs with plenty of lift and attachment D-rings that are perfect for cold water divers to lightweight and minimalist BCDs that are perfect the travelling diver that is concerned with luggage space and weight. Both thermal and abrasion protection are offered by your diving boots. 1.5mm is fine for the tropics, 3mm where you need a combination of movement and warmth, 5mm for warmth and 7mm for lots of thermal protection whilst diving.
SMBs and dSMBs will greatly aid your visability and safety whilst under or on the surface and are a requirement in many dive sites today. Some roll up small enough to fit into your BCD pocket and others are built for pure size. A dSMB, or delayed surface marker buoy, starts the dive in your pocket or on a D-Ring and is inflated underwater and sent to the surface attached to a reel. A SMB, or surface marker buoy, is inflated at the start of the dive and towed behind you so you always have a presence on the surface. Typically red in colour they come in a range of colours for different environments so it's best to get the right one for you.
Your scuba Cylinder is a high pressure vessel made specifically for diving. We use two different types in diving with different working pressures. Steel cylinders are heavier and smaller but can go to higher pressures 232 or 300bar. Aluminium cylinders are larger and more buoyant but most have a maximum working pressure of 207bar but will not rust.
