Staples is an American multinational office supply retailing corporation. There are over 1,500 locations in North America, and headquarters are located in Framingham, Massachusetts. Staples offers numerous services and supplies to businesses, as well as to individuals for personal use. The first Staples was opened on May 1, 1986 in Brighton, Massachusetts. Staples was co-founded by former rivals in the New England retail supermarket industry, Leo Kahn and Thomas G. Stemberg. Originally, they were planning for another business idea, but got the idea for Staples when Stemberg couldn't get a ribbon for his printer, since the only place was a small dealer that was closed for the Fourth of July. Hence was born the idea for an office supply superstore. On it's tenth anniversary in 1996, it became a Fortune 500 company. In 1998 it gained the rights to the name of a new area being built in the Los Angeles area, which is now the famous Los Angeles Staples Center, home of the legendary basketball team, the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as the NBA team Los Angeles Clippers, and NHL team LA Kings. Over the years Staples has acquired many businesses to build the office supply empire it has become today.
Staples offers a number of convenient shipping and delivery options. They offer free next-day delivery for eligible orders of $49.99 or over. If you're a Business Rewards Plus member, your order of $25 or more will be shipped free and delivered the next day. You can also order in-store at one of their kiosks and be eligible for free next-day delivery, as well as orders placed through their Auto Restock program (excluding oversized items). Not all items are eligible for free next-day delivery, and in order to be sent in time, orders must be placed by 5pm local time, Monday-Friday, excluding holidays. Orders under $49.99 will be charged a $9.95 delivery fee.
Oversized items are charged a $14.99 delivery fee. Oversized items are items that are 70 pounds or more. They will be identified as oversized on their product page. You can also choose to have products sent to your local Staples store, and you can pick up the items there for free. In the case of furniture set up, the White Glove set up service is available for select products only, which will be indicated on the product page.
Staples accepts returns on any products, so long as they are in salable condition, complete with the original packaging, Universal Product Code (UPC), parts, manuals, and the packing slip or receipt. Certain products have specific return requirements. For example, unopened boxed software that Staples currently sells can be returned at any time for a full refund, as well as any office supplies. Furniture, tech and business machines - like computers, digital cameras, printers and tablets- can only be returned with 14 days of the receipt date. Furniture must be disassembled for return. Items bought online can be returned in-store or by mail. Returns by mail are provided with a return label for shipping.
